Elsa Siemens Alangi: Frau

Habe gerade euer Giso-Video gesehen.

Sawatzky?

Thomas Herzog: MR

I have for ages, been trying to find a site with materials in my grandmothers dialect.  Finally I've found one.  I would like to learn her dialect of German.  I took High German in High School, and it is now one of my majors in College, but I Would really love to learn the family. Dialect.  I've looked for the lexicon they mention in the podcast for "Plautduutsch"  and have had no luck.  Where can I get it?

PlautDuutsch still very limited

Thanks,

Thomas

Guest: Search through northern Germany

I am in the USA.  I have been doing genealogical study with DNA, and it seems I may have deep ancestry along the southern Baltic shore, westward through northern Germany, and into England with the Saxons or the Vikings.

I am interested in all forms of Germanic languages, especially the northern dialects now.  Where can I learn more about Plautdietsch or Plattduutsch?

Love the videos. Vielen Dank.

Hi, my name is Lisa Ginther...both of my parents are german mennonite and we speak, or should speak plautdietsch..i know some of the language but very little...i am very much wanting to learn how to speak the language as i am an only child and have a daughter, if i do not learn and teach her it will be lost. if anyone has anything they think might help me i would greatly appreciate it...i have found some sights like yours which is great by the way and will really come in handy once i completely know and understand the language, however i need to find out how to do that first lol! thank you!

Franz Dyck: Good work guys

Hey there, just figured i should say great job with all you videos, you guys are great. I too speak Plautdeutsch but i can't write in the language unfortunately, but once again i must say i love your videos. I look forward to the upcoming videos, love the quiz on the end too. I am from the mexican/mennonite branch of low german speaking people, and was raised on the dialect, I'm currently living in Niagara area in Canada, and there is a good amount of people here as well speaking the language. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!   -- Franz Dyck
